SyncVR Relax & Distract is a VR application developed to reduce pain, anxiety and stress. The user is offered videos, relaxation exercises and cognitive games and the application includes functionality for pregnant women in labour. Once women put on the VR goggles, they are presented with images of the beach and hear calming sounds. A soothing voice helps them breathe while giving them positive feedback. The technique transports the women to another world, reducing their experience of pain. This virtual pain management technique is nonpharmaceutical. This eliminates the risk of side effects and complications associated with epidural treatment.
