The Makorobot can place knee prosthetics with extreme accuracy. A 3D CT scan is made in advance to determine where the prosthetic should be placed and the robot helps direct the surgeon during the intervention. This benefits the patient: the risk of damaging tissue around the knee is reduced and other complications become less likely as well. The use of surgery robots has been successful in the past years and international parties are now expressing their interest as well. Ultimately, the developers want to make robot-assisted surgery the standard and expand the technique to service other joints.
