Lucy is an MRI scanner on wheels, developed by Hyperfine. Because the MRI is smaller than a conventional clinical MRI scanner, and can be moved, it can be used in several clinical settings. Thus scans can be made of, for example, the head or the neck. This is particularly useful in places where an MRI is not always at hand, such as an emergency care department or intensive care. Lucy uses a relatively small amount of electricity and can be operated from a tablet. With Lucy, a first MRI can be made quickly and efficiently, with the option to use a larger MRI scanner later. Patients don’t have to be moved for Lucy, which ensures a better experience, more accessibility, and prevents healthcare expenses.
