The first implementation of the AI tool by Digital Diagnostics in a Dutch healthcare institution is a fact. The tool assesses retina photos of diabetes patients. Diabetes can cause deviations to blood vessels in the eyes, which may eventually impair the patient’s vision. The AI software by Digital Diagnostics is called IDx-DR and can identify deviations within the space of one minute. Thanks to the tool, patients get their results more quickly and pressure on the healthcare professional is alleviated. In addition, the reliability of the result is assured: 2 million images were validated for the development of IDx-DR. As a result, the tool now works for any patient.
