Wision AI in Shanghai has developed an algorithm that can detect very early stages of colorectal cancer during a colonoscopy. Using techniques originally developed to train algorithms for self-driving cars, the Wision algorithm identifies polyps and displays them on a monitor in vivid colours. It has been found to detect 90 per cent of existing polyps, virtually all of which were correctly recognised.
