Boston Scientific has developed a Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) device that allows electrostimulation of the brain with much greater precision than before. The Vercise Gevia is a pen-shaped stimulator with eight independent electrodes. The electric potential changes according to changes in the electrical impedance of the brain. This means that patients with chronic diseases such as Parkinson’s can receive a stable level doe of electrostimulation, in spite of disease progression. This increases patient comfort.
