The large Chinese health insurer Ping An operates tiny, unstaffed ‘one-minute clinics’ called Good Doctor. In a small cubicle resembling a photo booth, the user begins by summarising symptoms with the aid of artificial intelligence, after which a secure connection to a doctor is set up. The doctor can then give a medical diagnosis and prescribe medicines. The cubicle contains a vending machine stocking more than 100 commonly used medicines, and it can dispense the prescribed medication upon payment.
