Kunstmatige nier

In the artificial kidney project, an artificial kidney is being developed by Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. The device looks like a small plastic filtering system, about the size of a ping pong ball. It filters the liquids in the body. In doing so, it takes over the kidney’s task. Every year, many millions of kidney patients have to sit through dialysis multiple times a week. This device puts an end to that. The device is inserted in the place of the kidney to filter the liquids in the blood. This year it will be implemented for the first time in human beings, to further improve the device.
