Hoestie is a Dutch communication platform designed to assist people with cancer as they inform their family and friends about the course of their illness. The purpose is to facilitate communication about a difficult topic and to unburden both the patient and the loved ones. Hoestie relieves the patient of having to repeatedly tell the same wearisome, emotional story. It lowers communication barriers within the social network. The patient posts information on the platform about the course of the illness and the treatment, perhaps with a calendar showing scheduled treatment sessions and follow-up checks.
