Hartmonitor

The University of Tokyo and the Japanese research institute Riken have developed a tiny, flexible cardiac monitor that fits on an index finger. Even more remarkable is the builtin, equally tiny and flexible photovoltaic cell, based on nanotechnology, that powers the monitor. Similar-sized solar cells could be used to supply power to many other types of micro- or nanolevel devices.
