De Gable Core is an innovative robot for walking rehabilitation (developed by Gable Systems), which supports rehabilitation patients with trouble walking in an innovative way whilst they learn to walk again. The patient wears a hipster and a vest, which are linked to the ‘arm’ of the robot. All move-ments are analysed and the software forwards the current stance of the body every half millisecond, after which the patient is supported in the correct way practically in real time. What’s unique is that the patient can immediately walk by themselves and can move freely through the space, because the robot can move in different directions and can rotate around its axis. Thanks to this technology, the rehabilitation process can
be improved and possibly even accelerated. This greatly benefits patients that can no longer walk by themselves, often as a result of a stroke.
