E-Dermis is a layer of rubber containing sensors, which can be fitted over a prosthetic such as an artificial hand, enabling the wearer to feel. The sensors emit electric signals similar to those produced by the human senses of touch and pain, and these are relayed to the existing nerves in the wearer’s arm. Those senses are restored to the wearer. The next step will be to recover the sense of temperature.
