The CanGaroo Envelope from Aziyo Biologics is an extracellular matrix scaffold based on pig tissue that can be used to envelop implants in humans. It holds implanted devices in place such as pacemakers, defibrillators and, since recently, neurostimulators. The porcine intestinal material has undergone a process to prevent rejection by the human body. Because the new cells are later gradually replaced by native human tissue, a vascularised pocket develops from which the implants can be removed more easily, should that become necessary.
