Nanodiamonds are small, fluorescing particles that emit signals constantly and infinitely. They can also be bound to different substances. This way, specific diseases can easily be traced. By using scans, accumulations of, for example, tumor cells or inflammatory cells can be located. They are developed to withstand many different conditions and thus survive in the human body. The nanodiamonds can be used for in vivo applications, diagnostics, and microscopy. Nanodiamonds are realiable and don’t have to deal with the problems other substances face, such as photobleach or photoblink, where the signals are stronger at some times, or fade away.
