Abergower developed 3D-printed test rods in collaboration with various parties to make Covid-19 tests less invasive. The printed test rods help reduce anxiety in the patient while shortening the time it takes to be tested. The rod was developed such that it can extract enough material from the nasal cavity to provide a test result. The product is a success: research shows that the 3D-printed test is at least as effective as traditional cue tips. The 3D swab also contributed to the global recognition of the value of printing procedures for medical purposes.
